Library cards are free and valid for one (1) year. The Library System has no minimum age for a patron to obtain a library card. Anyone can use the resources of the Pope County Library, but only registered patrons may borrow library materials. Cardholders are responsible for all items checked out on their cards, whether the card is used by the owner of the card or anyone else. Please be advised of the following expectations and responsibilities for participants and their parents or guardians:

• Supervision Requirement: A parent or guardian must be present for any child under the age of 11 while they are on the premises.
• Misconduct Policy: In the event of any misconduct, we reserve the right to contact the child’s parent or guardian for resolution.
• Liability for Damages: Parents or guardians will be held financially responsible for any damage to games or equipment resulting from repeated horseplay.

Children 11 and under must be accompanied by a responsible party and shall be adequately supervised by such responsible parent or caregiver at all times for the sake of their own well-being.
 

While children 12 years and older may use the library unattended, they are required to adhere to library rules and expectations of acceptable behavior.  Disruptive juveniles may be asked to disperse at the librarian’s discretion. Any minor unable to travel alone must be picked up prior to closing.
